I don’t get how people can call Cersei a “feminist”.  She doesn’t wantwomen to have equal rights with men, she want to have power just to herself. She basically wants to be a man herself! She always goes on and on about how she could be such a great king, how she should be born a man, yadda yadda . And she thinks she would be a better ruler than Tywin.

Dear, no, you wouldn’t. You’re just not smart, wise, self-controlled and observant enough, and switching gender wouldn’t add to you such qualities. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for badass women, who run complicated intrigues and outsmart men. Look at Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns. That’s how you do it!

EDIT: Just to avoid misunderstanding and save you some energy - I don’t think that Cersei is dumb, because everyone does stupid things sometimes, and I don’t think that liking her is wrong.

My issue has always stemmed from her “Lady Macbeth”-ish complex. Something I seriously dislike in people in general are those who base their entire lives off of a resentment for what they are not instead of excepting it and moving on.

This is one of the reasons I have a hard time with Hemmingway sometimes: he gets so freaked out that there might not be a god that he wrings his hands “holy crap! he might not be there! what do I do?!” whereas others like Satre, say: “Okay, he might not be there, we have no way of knowing, so let’s adjust our actions.”

Everyone of Cersei’s actions is based on her resentment that she was not born a man. I understand why she acts as she does, to be in that time and be strong and not get what you deserve while men walk all over you is horrible and I can’t even imagine what living in that world is like. But she is just the type of person who will beat her hands bloody on the wall she cannot move instead of sneaking through cracks. I think she is incredibly strong as a character, and if Jamie or Tywin were women they would act just the same. But I do not like her as a character because her mind is so full of what she is not that she missed out of what she can be with subtly and intelligence: accepting what she is and making use of it. She is made of bitterness and resentment and just wants to hurt because of that, which I sympathize with but could never empathize with.

Em, Brienna? She embraces the fact that she’s...woman, but she acts outside of her gender...
