I kinda wrote this 37,000 word SanSan fanfic a while ago and I wasn’t totally happy so I went back and did some editing. And at first I though it would just be a one off, but I realized that writing it really helped me with some stress and in the end I would like to write more :)
But in any case, it’s now posted here so if anyone wants to check it out, I hope you enjoy it.

More →Hey guys, so I am home for Thanksgiving this week and I am trying to get some more drawing done but it’s a bit slower going, so I was thinking about ASoIaF (surprise, fucking surprise) and thought I would character rant / chat with you all because I just feel like it.
READY: Ranting on Sansa’s character and why stupidity/weakness claims are pretty unfounded, and how I can’t understand how anyone can ship Sandor/Sansa AND Petyr/Sansa. (Spoilers, nothing past aSoS)
SANSA FIRST BECAUSE SHE’S PRETTIEST:
Many reads claim that Sansa is derpy as hell and this is total BS- first of all I think there is huge intelligence in retaining an outward image of stupidity and innocence, which she definitely does, even though she does have a simple optimism that makes her shine.
I think that when she is simple in her actions people should remember Dany when she was dealing with the slave trader, and although Sansa doesn’t have the power and is still building the strength to attack her enemies with the fury Dany can, she isn’t simply “stupid”, she is working her circumstances in a very clever way (even if it is rather subconscious).
ALSO: I realized recently that much of what people criticize in Sansa can be linked back to Catlyn. Think about it: Cat hasn’t been in Winterfell that long, Sansa is only her second child, and beautiful as can be, all ready to be the perfect court lady Cat is rather sorry she can no longer be. So she takes efforts to make her that.
By the time Arya comes along she is rather more situated and has had a girl to vicariously mold already, plus she is more Stark-y, so she turns out all spunky. But Sansa I think took a large heaping of Catlyn’s lost hopes for the southron life she could have had. Also we know that Cat is rather shallow: I lost a big ‘ol chunk of respect for her after the whole “Is there nothing more cruel than an ugly woman” thing. Don’t get me wrong I have great respect for Catlyn’s intelligence and strength, but I do think she had some effect on making Sansa rather supplicant and detached from reality.
I’m not suggesting at all that Sansa would be better without her innocence because I love the hell out of her arch, but I think people who criticize her would do well to remember the influence that her mother’s slight disappointment in her situation (especially earlier in her life) might have had.
Now:
I have no comprehension how people can ship both of these Sansa pairings. But I should preamble this with the fact that Littlefinger simply creeps me out and I am a little bias because of that, so if you like him, I’m not hating, just expressing.
The main reason this whole thing confuses me is because I see Petyr and Sandor as total character foils of each other. Both came from lower stations, but from that point on they took totally separate paths:
+Sandor’s childhood was painful, Petyr’s was pretty privileged (even if he never got what he ultimately wanted he was a favorite in a wealthy keep with an influential family).
+Sandor fought his way to the top with brawn and Petyr worked his way up with his brain.
+Petyr’s life is made of lies that hide an ultimate truth (his goals and dreams), and Sandor’s life is made of harsh truths that hide an ultimate lie he tells himself about his true nature (his desired optimism and good heart).
+Sandor wants Sansa but holds back because he thinks he doesn’t deserve her, Petyr wants Sansa and doesn’t hold back because he thinks knows he deserves her (or at least thought he was always due Cat in some way).
+Petyr does save Sansa but he acts out all of his affection for her without her knowledge or permission, kissing her and not listening when she protests, and taking her away with a sneaky misleading path. Sandor wanted her but would not kiss her when he saw she was afraid and asked her permission to take her away.
I understand that people might like them both because they care about her safety and ultimately Petyr’s way was the successful one (honor v. dishonor agan), but to me it seems like Petyr’s desires are totally motivated by his internal needs while Sandor fights his own desires so intensely for what she really wants.
SUMUP:
Sansa is awesome no matter what you say and I will ship Sandor/Sansa forever
Oops. I drew way too much Sandor Sansa fluff. The Sandor police are going to arrest me for drawing him cute. Just be glad I didn’t do derpy Stranger with bridle flowers like I almost did.
